Surgical Pathology

The Division of Surgical Pathology covers a broad range of surgical subspecialties, including breast pathology, gastrointestinal and liver pathology, heart and lung pathology, bone and soft tissue pathology, hematopathology, and neuropathology, among others. In addition, there is expertise in the interpretation of medical problems including renal and pulmonary biopsies. The division has extensive experience with interpretation of transplant-related tissues. The division welcomes consultation material related to interpretation of biopsy and other materials in medical and surgical diseases. Consults received in surgical pathology will be triaged to the appropriate pathologist with specialty interest and expertise related to the condition. The Surgical Pathology Division reviews approximately 72,000 cases per year.
