Dr. Huang received his MD from Anhui Medical University in 1983 and obtained a Master’s degree in Pharmacology from the Institute of Radiation Medicine in Beijing in 1986. In 1987, Dr. Huang entered the graduate school at the NYU School of Medicine through the prestigious CUSBEA program and obtained his Ph.D. in 1991. He then did postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Joseph Schlessinger, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, supported by a fellowship from Leukemia Society of America. Dr. Huang received residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology from 1995 to 1999 at NYU Medical Center followed by a year of fellowship training in Oncologic Surgical Pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, working under some of the giants in the field of pathology including Drs. Juan Rosai and Steven Sternberg. Dr. Huang is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Dr. Huang worked as a surgical pathologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center from 2000-2008 and was Professor of Pathology, Urology and Oncology, Co-Director of the Genitourinary Pathology Fellowship Program and Director of the Clinical Immunohistochemistry Laboratory. He has been Professor of Pathology and Director of Urologic Pathology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA since September 2008. Dr. Huang is a general surgical pathology with subspecialty expertise in genitourinary pathology, particularly cancers of the prostate, bladder, kidney and testis. His basic research laboratory studies the function of neuroendocrine cells in prostate cancer.
