Bio:

Neuronal Development and Differentiation / Growth Factors We are studying how multiple signals such as neuronal growth factors and neural activity interact to influence neuronal development in the visual system of Xenopus laevis. By using a combination of in vivo imaging, cell culture, and molecular techniques we are analyzing how neurotrophins modulate the survival and differentiation of retinal ganglion cells, and how these factors interact with neuronal activity to influence axon arborization and development of synaptic connections between the retina and the optic tectum.
